A few weeks ago our family took a trip to the barranca. We had a great time. First we hiked down a steep hill. Then we went through a dark tunnel. It was super fun echoing in the tunnel. Then once we went through the tunnel we found a small creek with little things moving inside. They were tadpoles. We got our net and started scooping inside the water. On dads first try we got a baby tadpole. We dumped them in our clean bucket. He loved it so much. I bet he was glad to get out of that trashy water. There was so much trash in there. There was cans, plastic bags, leftover food, ew, it was discussing. We got more and more tadpoles until we got over 13 of them. Then we decided to go. It was getting late and we were planing to go over to say goodbye to some of our friends who were
leaving for Colorado in a couple of days.
Once we came home at about 6pm we made a big home for the tadpoles. We also noticed that we caught a frog. It was super exiting. Every day we checked on the tadpoles. Then our work started getting hard. The frog kept trying to jump out of the bucket. One day Grandpa Al came by to see James. We told him about our frog. He came out to see and our frog was gone. It was so sad. One day on one of my half days I came outside and saw a dark green frog swimming around in the water, we finally had another frog. But a second later I saw a light green frog on the other side of the home we made climbing up the side. I thought to myself. I didn't think frogs could be so fast. But then I remembered that one was light green and the other was dark green. I thought they could change colors. Then the dark green frog started climbing a side. Thats when I started to get it. The frogs I was seeing were 2 separate frogs. We had 2 new frogs. It was good and bad. I was afraid they would try to jump out. Now I was feeling like somebody would have to babysit the frogs at all times. What if mom had to run a erred with James and dad was at work and Elle, Calvin, and I were at school. Who would watch over the frogs? When Elle and I came in and finished our dinner we went outside to check on our frogs. They were gone. We were so sad. But I was also almost relived to have the sneaky frogs go away because Elle and I thought we were giving the clever frogs too much attention and didn't pay much attention to the cute tadpoles. We also have been spraying our backyard more just incase our frogs were jumping around our backyard. Then a few days later we came outside and saw our 2 more frogs with little tails. We were so exited if their tails aren't off yet they can't jump out. We have had a marvelous experience with frogs and tadpoles.
